We know our soils, waters and how to cultivate each one of the almond trees. We draw up a careful plan to keep them healthy, vigorous and highly productive.
The almond tree cycle
Winter rest
During the winter months whilst the tree rests, we carry out winter pruning. We cut unproductive branches and redirect the almond trees towards the optimal use of water and light.
Blooming
Divine and wonderful blooming! Between the months of february and march our almond trees bless us with wonderful white landscapes of a winter carnival disguised as spring.
Blooming
The beginning of blooming is not exact, nor is it maintained year after year, as it has a genetic component, if the variety is early or late, and an environmental component depending on the cold hours of the previous months.
Pollination
At this point in the calendar the flowers should be pollinated. In our fields you will find self-compatible varieties, single-variety plantations whose self-fertile character allows pollination with pollen of the same variety, less dependent on bees and the climate.
Vegetative growth
In this phase of the cycle, large vegetative growth processes take place. Growth of the peel and the shell of the grain, vegetative growth of branches and leaves, growth of buds in their phase of floral initiation, and growth of the integument that will define the length of the kernel of the almond.
Maturity
The grain of the almond begins to fill and the shells to harden.
Maturity
The summer heat allows optimal ripening of the almond. The green almond reaches maturity and the bark separates longitudinally, exposing the shell. We are getting close to starting the harvest.
Harvest
The ripening of the almond is done on the tree, without haste, looking for the optimum point of development and humidity. The almonds that are harvested with precision machinery arrive at the drying yards. Controlling the degree of humidity is essential. Each batch will be stored with full traceability and by varieties.
Generating reservations
Once the harvest is carried out and until the leaves fall, the almond tree begins to produce assimilates that generate a high level of reserves, the almond tree is prepared for the next campaign.
Fall of the green
While the processors work the almond, removing its shell for direct consumption or other treatments… The almond trees of almondo lose their leaves to enter a period of deserved rest.
Floral differentiation and root growth
During this rest of the almond grove, care is crucial to achieve a good quality of almonds for the next harvest. Work such as, soil management and fertilization will be necessary to contribute the necessary nutrients to the almond tree in its production phase.
Winter rest
It is time for the pruning. While the tree sleeps, we work. This phase and the harvest phase require many hours of hard work.
